Although it is rare, there are some cases in which there is no alternative but to resort to surgical biopsy.

These cases are those in which the biopsies have not been conclusive or are not consistent with the degree of imaging suspicion.

Other examples are cases of thelorrhagia (bleeding from the nipple) without alterations in the imaging tests.
